Edward Robert Smythe (1810-1899) Pastel and chalk, an oval ‘ Tranquility ‘ portrait of a seated lady Labelled under and with label verso stating ‘ Purchased from Guildhall Gallery, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk’ Bears a slightly indistinct signature and 1855 date mid right. Miniture Oval Portrait of Lord Nelson

A very nice miniture water colour?-pastel? portrait painting of a young Naval Officer, (possibly Lord Nelson) signed with the initials V.H. and thought to be from the early to mid 19th century, eg. 1825-1855. It is framed and glazed in a dark-wood frame that shows slight wear to one area of the edge. The small painting itself is in good condition with only slight fading to the margin. The frame measures approx. 150ml. x 122ml. the picture measures approx. 108ml. x 82ml.  This is a nice example of a miniture painting approx. 160 to 185 years old. Offers good value at this price.   (click on picture to enlarge image)  See Payment Options.                   (K)070511
