The Honourable Mrs. Graham

A wonderful oil on canvas set on board portrait painting of The Honourable Mrs. Graham, set in a very nice ornate gilt frame. unsigned but looks professionaly painted and was painted  during the 2oth century. Size of frame is 725ml. wide x 975ml.. high and both the picture and the frame are in good condition. The original Thomas Gainsborough painting is a full length portrait and is on display in the Scottish National Gallery and is thought to be one fo Gainsborough’s finest full length portraits painted in the tradition of Van Dyck. The costume and accessories are true 17th century fashion and enhances the elegant beauty of the Honourable Mrs. Graham (1757-1792).  She was Born the Honourable Mary Cathcart, daughter of the 9th Baron Cathcart, he was Ambassador to Catherine the Great. She married the wealthy Perthshire Landowner Thomas Graham who later became Lord Lynedoch in 1774.
