A superb Oil Painting Portrait of George Bernard Shaw the famous Irish playwright. Born 26th July 1856 and died 2nd November 1950 he was a playwright, critic and political activist and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925, plus an Oscar in 1938 for his adapted screenplay of Pygmalion. This oil painting is on canvas on board and in a nice gilt frame which measures 740ml. h. x 590ml. w. and is signed and dated by an artist I. Sutton, could be an Irish artist?? Dated 1981. The painting is in very good condition but shows a very small streak of paint on the coat sleeve where it may have been retouched at some time, other than that this is a marvelous portrait painting of the well known playwright George Bernard Shaw.
